New Version is out: 0.0.4

Hello to everybody,

We have a new version of Jabox. Feel free to try it out, but keep in mind that it is still in early stages, and some things may not be very intuitive.

Some of the new features:

  • There is a new plugin that connects to Beanstalk Subversion hosting.

  • The header links now contain a tooltip that shows the url of the corresponding Service.

  • The application now launches automatically a browser at the startup page. In the future this will be optional by a CLI parameter.

  • When using an embedded Subversion the URL is now shown so that you can use it to check out the project.

  • Subversion plugin is now working withe remote private repositories that need authentication.

  • Default Services can now be disabled by clicking again on the Star icon.

From the new features, the most important is the Beastalk plugin as it opens the way to make the application integrate with online services making it even easier to have your project ready, either it is a private one or public.

There a lot of good online services that are out there and the decision to which you want to choose is more of a personal preference. I chose to integrate with Beanstalk because it gives a free account for startup companies/individuals that can support private and public hosting which is a good way to get you introduced with their system without any hassle.

In the future there will be more plugins for other online hosting services that provide similar privileges, so that the choice is left at your hands. Of course if you can afford or already have a subversion hosting service of your you can always use that to connect to. Lastly, if you just want to try out something you can use the embedded subversion plugin to create locally a subversion repository.

Stay tuned, as there will be more candies out soon…
